I'll take a Union Job! any day of the week! Period! Look, all individuals, outfits, organizations, clubs, groups, teams, etc, are imperfect. Nothing is perfect, especially people. Like you, I can dig up the dirt and fling it all over this Forum. I can search and Google, browse RSS feeds, browse reality-TV headlines, and mirror sensational non-news items on this Forum. Let's keep things peaceful and fruitful, okay? We can have a reasonable discussion. Thank You.

Did you know The Grateful Dead were not in a union, nor were Alembic, nor the sound crew, nor the tapers? Some of the venues GD played at would have involved some union workers. Ampex workers were not in any unions. Hewlett Packard plants and their many thousands of workers all over Colorado were not in any unions. Ampex outsourced their Audio Production Line to Juarez, Mexico in 1979. I was working in Ampex's Audio-Video Systems Division factory in Colorado Springs that summer and I helped them box up this newly-outsourced Audio Production Line.

Ampex's Audio-Video Systems Division factory in Colorado Springs
Ampex Factory
This 239,000-square-foot plant is located at 600 Wooten Road
Ampex once employed as many as 1,600 people in this Colorado Springs factory

After outsourcing a few hundred jobs to Warez, Mexico in 1979, non-union Ampex Corporation went out of business circa 1995! Hewlitt Packard has invested billions of dollars in India and China! Thousands of Colorado non-union HP workers were fired!

You and your Tea Party are bent on making the same propaganda points, over and over. Myself and the 99 per-cent know where you're coming from. Please stop acting like a Denialist and a Revisionist. My ticket is punched, and my show is over. I'm sixty. It's Game Over for me! The Greedy one per-cent hate my guts. Who cares? The Tea Party and The One Per-cent are saying the same things. The Greedy One Per-cent are telling The 99 per-cent of us to shut-up, and do everything Wall Street says, which is this:

The 99 per-cent needs to Man-up; be a 'good-American worker'; The Greedy One Per-cent wants to screw you in every possible way; shut-up and become a 'risk-taker'; you can succeed by 're-inventing yourself'; real skills, good jobs, school teachers, and union trades are Pure EVIL; The American Worker's goal is to 'become an Entrepreneur'; American citizens must take on an enormous six-figure debt; then you can 'make it' on 'your own'; you must work hard on the job, 6 days a week, 15 hours a day, 100 hours per week - which ever is longer; if you get sick and can't afford Health Care - just die; The World belongs to The Greedy One Per-cent; Trust in The Market while we screw your future!
On May 2nd, 1933, the day after Labor day, Nazi groups occupied union halls and labor leaders were arrested. Trade Unions were outlawed by Adolf Hitler, while collective bargaining and the right to strike was abolished.

This was the beginning of a consolidation of power by the fascist regime which systematically wiped out all opposition groups, starting with unions, liberals, socialists, and communists using Himmler’s state police. Fast-forward to America today. Hannity and Fox put out more propaganda than CNN, MSNBC, and the other networks - put together. Why do you and The Tea Party keep supporting Nazi rhetoric and repeating mis-truths?

Media Matters for America posts research and analytic reports documenting Tea Party propaganda throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation. They provide resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions like Fox News. Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Ron Rosenbaum also writes about Tea Party ideology, and in particular about the fraudulent history and distorted language it indulges in. Listen to Tea Partiers on cable news — or read the signs they hoist or their Internet comments — and you frequently encounter the flagrant abuse, the historically ignorant misuse, of words such as tyranny, communist, Marxist, fascist, and socialist.

UC Davis cops in riot gear spray chemical weapons on peaceful students!
- Friday, Nov 18, 2011 -

What about the systematic use of police brutality - especially the widespread use of pepper spray - to enforce tuition increases onto students? Notice that the tuition costs at University of California campuses was around $6,000 in the year 2005. Today it’s currently around $13,000. And now there’s a plan proposed by UC President Mark Yudof to increase tuition by 81 percent over the next four years. So that would raise tuition to around $23,000. So, what we’re looking at is, within 10 years, a tuition increase from $6,000 to $23,000. And that’s what students were protesting at UC Davis. Student Protesters on campus were brutally pepper-sprayed by UC Davis campus police in riot gear for peacefully opposing rising tuitions costs. See above photo. This is disgusting!

Our Education System is being destroyed. It's quickly becoming strictly about for-profits.
For-profit colleges and universities: the $400 billion business of higher education is booming

Unions had nothing to do with driving up wages? Ever had to cross a teamster picket line? Ever have to park down the street so your tires don't get slashed by union thugs?

Why would anyone want to give up their own right to negotiate their own salary to a union full of average and below average producers? Talk about socialism... that is revolting. Imagine letting some union contract dictate how much you can earn in an organization... I'd rather die than live like that.

Re: Unions had nothing to do with driving up wages?

Without Unions, we see nothing but lower wages, longer hours, less benefits, less safety in the workplace, more child labor laws broken, more sweat shops, and more outsourcing of jobs.

I'm thankful to Unions for helping Labor and Workers earn decent living wages and better benefits. Look at all they have done in the past to improve Workers Rights:
• Unions raise wages of unionized workers.
• Unions reduce wage inequality.
• Strong unions set a pay standard that nonunion employers follow.
• The most sweeping advantage for unionized workers is in fringe benefits.
• Unionized workers receive more generous health benefits than nonunion workers.
• Unionized workers receive better pension plans.
• Unionized workers receive more vacation time and more total paid leave.
Unions play a pivotal role both in securing legislated labor protections and rights such as safety and health, overtime, and family/medical leave and in enforcing those rights on the job. Because unionized workers are more informed, they are more likely to benefit from social insurance programs such as unemployment insurance and workers compensation. Unions are thus an intermediary institution that provides a necessary complement to legislated benefits and protections.

What happened to non-union Electronics Workers (like me) who worked 30 years in this industry? We were Fired! Our JOBS were outsourced! Today, ONE MILLION Electronics Workers in China are forced into Slave Labor, Concentration Camps, and Sweat Shops! Chinese Workers are forced to work 15-hour shifts, six days per week, in brutal and unsafe conditions, for $250 per month. That works out to Sixty Five cents per hour wages! These workers are Human Beings.

1 Million Workers. 100 Million iPhones. 17 Suicides. Who’s to Blame?
Without Unions and organized labor, Apple, HP, IBM, Dell, Sony, and Nokia are using unchecked Chinese slave labor to manufacture their products. Unsafe working conditions are causing Chinese Electronics Workers to get Killed on the Job! Apple's Chinese Electronics Workers are committing suicide on the job! These are documented facts.

In a related story:
More than two million workers in Britain are participating in a nationwide strike today to protest government plans to reduce public sector pensions. Today's action is expected to be the largest walkout in Great Britain in a generation.

Monte get your fucking head out of your ass!

The reason there are minimum wages and child labor laws are due to LEGISLATION.

Do you see women's suffrage movements in operation these days?

NO, why?

Unions have driven jobs overseas, take an economics class instead of interpretive dance and chicano studies courses some time.

Mindless worker bees standing in an assembly line should not make $23 per hour when a Mcdonadlds drive through employee only makes $7 per hour.

firefighters and police and teachers should be paid more than congressional aids and union representatives BUT THEY ARE NOT

I WORK 3 times as hard and produce 3 times as much output as the people next to me and I barely make twice as much WTF? Should I start a union so they make more and I make less? WTF are you thinking? Mediocre people should not be as successful as I am but they are, DO I HATE ON THEM AND SET UP A TENT AND STOP THEM FROM ENTERING A BUILDING? NO!

There are REALLY stupid doctors and lawyers, people with PHD's who don't know what a fucking PDF is or how to open an email, AM I PISSED THAT THEY MAKE MORE THAN ME? YES, DO I STAND OUT FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE AND DEMAND THEY PAY ME? NO!

These fucking people that want a free ride while I bust my ass all need to go get a fucking job and a life. I have paid a hundred thousand dollars in taxes at least and some people PAY NOTHING AT ALL, is that fair? NO!

If I make $10k this year by sittting around with my dick in my hand I don't have to pay uncle sam, but if I bust my ass and steal time away from my family that I will never get back and make $100k I have to give up 20%? If I make 1 million I get penalized even more?

Do you know how much taxes the evil 1 percent of rich douchebags pays in taxes?

* The top 1% pay 22.7% of taxes.
* The top 10% pay 50% of taxes.
* The top 20% pay 65.3% of taxes.
* The top 40% pay 84.3% of taxes.
* The bottom 20% pay 1.1% of taxes.
* The bottom 40% pay 6.1% of taxes.

See how fucking retarded you is now?

A Beer Story: Tax Cuts for the Wealthy

Posted by Tony Listi on March 21, 2008

The wealthy pay most of the taxes, so it should be no surprised that they get a larger percentage of the tax cut total back! It is only fair.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. ‘Since you are all such good customers, he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’ They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

‘I only got a dollar out of the $20,’declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,’ but he got $10!’

‘Yeah, that’s right,’ exclaimed the fifth man. ‘I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!’

‘That’s true!!’ shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’

‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
